A ‘burkini’ swimming pool party in France has been cancelled after the organisers received death threats, less than a week after the local mayor said he wanted to ban the event. Can someone explain to me what is the problem with this? I have absolutely no sympathy for Islam, but if a group of people want to organize a private party dressed up as whatever they want (be it burkas, birth suits, potato costumes, whatever), why should they be prevented from doing it?
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the article?
