Event Horizon is so damned unique. It's like the go-to suggestion for scifi horror that doesn't involve an "Alien" scenario. The world needs more Haunted Houses in Space.
1408 is one of my favorite short stories! The movie's pretty darn good too. John Cusack and Stephen King recently teamed up again to make "Cell," which is supposed to have a lot of 1408 easter eggs and references hidden throughout the movie.
The usual suspects for me are Child's Play (the first one), Event Horizon, Halloween and recently I added 1408 to my "must watch" list!
