Life expectancy falls in the US for the second year in a row
Life expectancy has fallen in the United States for the second year in a row amid concerns of a spike in drug-related deaths. A new study released by the US National Centre for Health Statistics (NCHS) found an American baby born in 2016 can expect to live 78.6 years. The figure is down from 78.7 years in 2015 and further still from 78.9 years in 2014 - the first time experts recorded a multi-year drop since 1962 and 1963.
