The Unemployment Rate for College Grads with a Bachelor’s Degree Dropped to 2.3%
Not since May of 2008 has the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for those holding a Bachelor’s degree been this low. At the current rate, we should see this dip under 2% by the middle of 2017. At least in terms of 4-year college graduates, the job market seems to be opening up significantly. As more degree holders become employed, the default and postponement rate for student loan and credit card payments should start dropping.

'Cancel order!': Trump says Boeing's contract for new Air Force One plane is too expensive
President-elect Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that the US should cancel an order for a new Air Force One plane that would cost billions of dollars, and Boeing shares promptly dipped slightly in morning trading. "Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion," Trump tweeted. "Cancel order!" At the close of the market on Monday, Boeing stock was at $152.16.

Samsung triumphs over Apple at the Supreme Court
A unanimous Supreme Court on Tuesday threw out the almost $400 million in damages Samsung was ordered to pay Apple in a long-standing dispute over the patents on elements of smartphones. The justices ruled that Samsung does not have to pay Apple damages based on the profits for the entire device, only a component, and reversed and remanded the case back down to a lower court. In delivering the court's opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the text of the law resolves the case.

Yik Yak fires 30 of 50 employees, still has no business model
In a move that seemed all-too predictable, Yik Yak has fired more than half of its staff. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the local startup laid off 30 of its 50 employees on Thursday. Since it began in 2013, the company behind the purportedly anonymous messaging app has never had, and still doesn’t have, any obvious source of meaningful revenue. Yet somehow, Yik Yak was valued by venture capitalists at $400 million in December 2014 after Sequoia Capital invested $62 million.

Rockefeller family charity to withdraw all investments in fossil fuel companies
A charitable fund of the Rockefeller family – who are sitting on a multibillion-dollar oil fortune – has said it will withdraw all its investments from fossil fuel companies. The Rockefeller Family Fund, a charity set up in 1967 by descendants of John D Rockefeller, said on Wednesday that it would divest from all fossil fuel holdings “as quickly as possible”.
