Snapzu Update To Version 3.0

As you may have already noticed, today we have released the 3rd major update to the website. After a lengthy two and a half months of planning, preparation and development of the updates and a hectic last couple of weeks putting it all together, we are proud to finally be able to introduce it to our fellow visitors.

  • Snapzu Update to Version 3.0

    Greetings all Snapzu visitors!

As you may have already noticed, today we have released the 3rd major update to the website. After a lengthy two and a half months of planning, preparation and development of the updates and a hectic last couple of weeks putting it all together, we are proud to finally be able to introduce it to our fellow visitors.

Let's breakdown all of the additions and changes:

    1. "Create Snap" button

This button which is located on your top bar (just to the right of the Snapzu logo), has gotten a major facelift in looks along with functionality. We made it as simple to use as possible by scrapping the old format of selecting either Native or Link snap, and switching it to a more novice friendly format. This new format allows users to submit any link, which is then identified (image, video, article, etc) and placed in the proper snap type automatically.

It also paves the way for us to create a browser "bookmarklet" that will make submissions possible on the fly, even if not currently browsing Snapzu. This feature can be expected sometime next month.

    2. Link Snap Redesign:

Each link snap has gotten a major design upgrade that includes:

    a) Larger image and text for a more visual experience, including a more responsive design designed for smaller, mobile screens.
    b) Additional voting analytics (for all you stats junkies out there)
    c) Community added related links area. This is a big one, and is described in more detail below.

    3. Related Links Area:

Each link snap now allows users to add a related link to their own, and/or other members snaps. This allows popular and older (but possibly outdated) snaps to be able to stay "fresh" by linking to related articles/snaps that may feature new developments, updates, or simply just something that relates.

Added related links act as "social submissions" affecting user reputation, and earning Rank Points (RP). Users can up/down vote these and they are listed in order based on the voting where the related link with the highest vote score will be listed on top, and so on. All members can add at least one related link per snap, however higher ranked members can add up to three. Added related links are also displayed in the activity feeds of all following members in a teal color.

    4. Login/Join pages:

The login and join were made more secure by moving to a separate page. They were also simplified to make it easier to sign up or login.

    5. Various minor bugs/inconsistencies fixed:

Not many important details to get into here, but we've been continuously fixing the bugs that are discovered and/or submitted to us. We're sure there's still more bugs out there, and we will continue our never ending fight to RAID them! A big thank you to all of the users that have contributed!

We are aware of a couple minor visual bugs and issues caused by this update and will be trying to get it all done before early next week, so please be patient if something is not displayed and/or functioning as it should.

If you don't have an account yet, we encourage that you sign up so you can check out all the features as explained in the [Tour][1]. It's free and takes 30 seconds, so don't be lazy! :) Thank you for reading, and enjoy the new features.

    Team Snapzu.

PS: Happy 4th of July to all our American visitors!

I spotted some visual glitches on my iPad? Where can I submit them? You didn't provide any info on that.
