Lumia cameras

Hi! I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with how some of the Lumia cameras compare with other smartphones. The Lumia 640, 830, and 930, say; how do they compare with (more expensive) phones such as the Samsung Galaxys or the iPhones? I find the iPhone camera impressive; excellent pictures, low light performance, video, and it's so smooth and fluid! I've tried a few different Samsung Galaxy phones, not sure which ones, but I wasn't quite as impressed with them. So how do the Lumia cameras compare? Thanks!

I have a Nokia 1020, which I bought solely for the camera, a BlackBerry Q10 for work and a Samsung Note 2 for everything else. The 1020 probably has the best camera of the three, and with the camera grip accessory, it's a pretty decent point and shoot. To my understanding , the 930's camera is comparable to (and according to some, better than) the 1020. So if you're after an affordable phone with a good camera, the Lumias are a good choice.

In saying that, if I had to choose only one to carry around with me, I'd stick with a newer Android device. They seem to have caught up with the Lumias with the LG G4 and the Galaxy S6. The inability to reliably sync my photos in the background, and the unavailability of certain apps (e.g. Snapchat) are examples of why I personally wouldn't recommend a Windows Phone. Also, I like tweaking my phone, trying different apps, automating things, rooting the phone/doing things you're not meant to do, so for me, Android will always be the preferred platform.

You might want to check out DxOMark for mobile camera reviews.

Hmmmm, that's interesting! I've come across DxOMark before, though I've never checked it for mobile camera reviews. I'll check it out!
