New to Warhammer Fantasy. Where to start?

I come from 40k. Not sure if you guys use codexes or what. I know the armies are huge and it's not squad based, but eh... I think it'll be fun.

First thing do you want to play 8th ed fantasy or age of sigmar? Might want to check what your local players are doing.

WFB 8th has square bases, "codex", and a rulebook like 40k. AoS is any bases, no codex.

Thats interesting. Why are they different?

WFB (warhammer fantasy battle) is currently in it's 8th edition. It's currently selling less than 40k and it's been declining for years. GW tried to reinvent Fantasy with AoS (Age Of Sigmar). AoS have really simple and silly rules. No way to balance (no point value) the armies and far less options with list building.

Given that, a lot of people refuse to switch to AoS and are still playing WFB 8th.

Yeah... I'll go with the 8th edition. I assume AoS happens after the end times?

Hm. I might need to follow AoS for the fluff. I want to know what happens after Chaos just up and kills everything.
