Welcome to Canlandia
“Congratulations on moving to Toronto,” said the FedEx guy, looking down at the job contract I was scanning. There we were, surrounded by bars, clothing stores, and coffee shops full of people working on Macs—exactly where you would expect a young New Yorker to want to be. The city to which I would be returning, in contrast, had always felt a bit like a holding pen for the people waiting to get to the Lower East Side. You have Drake,” he said.

At the heart of the dispute is where he decided to build it: in a tree in his backyard. The boat-treehouse sits atop a dead tree in Alpeza's Bloor West Village backyard, stretching beyond the tree and overlooking his fence. Alpeza admits that he did not have a building...

Black Lives Matter Toronto speaks out on controversy over 'cuss/kill' tweet
Yusra Khogali says a tweet she wrote months ago has been used to drown out and "de-legitimize" the accomplishments of the Black Lives Matter movement in Toronto. "Somehow a tweet I wrote out of anger months before our protest began has become a bigger media story than our protest's many and profound accomplishments," Khogali, co-founder of the Toronto chapter of Black Lives Matter, wrote in a Toronto Star column.

On the streets of Toronto, there’s a story that’s gone on for way too long – the dirty dealings behind the cab business. But things are changing. Let’s have a look.
