Teacher jailed for sex with pupil
A teacher who had a "full-blown sexual relationship" with a 15-year-old boy has been jailed for 16 months. Alice McBrearty, 23, admitted the four-month relationship with a pupil she taught at an east London school. Snaresbrook Crown Court heard McBrearty kissed the youngster in a classroom, and had sex with him at her parents' home in Wanstead Park, east London. She pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.

Footage captures woman forced to fight off sex attacker while passers by ignore her
Police have released CCTV footage showing a woman's struggle to fight off a sexual predator who was pulling her clothes off on the street as people walked past just metres away. Los Angeles Police Department released the video clip and a sketch of the suspect, who is believed to be Hispanic and aged between 40 and 50, after the incident near Van Nuys Boulevard.

The Supreme Court of Canada says the trial judge who acquitted a 35-year-old woman of sexual assault charges for having sex with a 14-year-old boy did not make any error in law. On Friday, the Supreme Court released written reasons for its May ruling where justices said Saskatchewan resident Barbara George should not face a new trial on sexual interference and sexual assault charges.

A federal jury Wednesday awarded $6.7 million to a woman who was raped repeatedly by a guard when she was being held in the Milwaukee County Jail four years ago. The guard, Xavier Thicklen, was acting under his scope of employment when the sexual assaults occurred and therefore Milwaukee County is liable for the damages amount, the jury determined.

A 23-year-old Indian woman has cut off the genitals of a Hindu religious teacher in the southern state of Kerala, claiming he raped her for years. Police said the suspect, named as Gangeshananda Theerthapada, would come to the woman's house to perform prayer rituals for her father's health. Nova Scotia judge under fire for claiming ‘a drunk can consent’ in sex-assault case
A Nova Scotia judge is facing a firestorm of criticism after declaring “clearly, a drunk can consent” as he acquitted a Halifax taxi driver of sexually assaulting a female passenger who was so intoxicated that she urinated on herself and passed out in the back of his cab. Justice Gregory Lenehan told the court that while it was obvious the woman was drunk at the time of the incident, and that the accused was “not somebody I would want my daughter driving with,” the Crown had failed to provide any evidence that the complainant did not agree to sexual activity.
