Depends on the glass. Glencairns are nice for something you want to be able to smell particularly well, and I find the "Canadian" glencairns are better for high proof stuff, due to the larger open mouth. It keeps you from getting a huge whiff of alcohol right off the bat with the larger mouth, which lets you enjoy it more.

That said, I only like glencairns (of either type) if drinking whisky is going to be my primary focus. If I'm drinking a glass while doing something else (reading, watching tv, whatever) I prefer to use a heavy bottomed old-fashioned glass.
