Considering Getting a PS Vita? Here are some excellent games you may be interested in.

I've had a vita for awhile now, and I am absolutely in love with it. I have owned a number of game consoles over the years, and I'm confident in saying that the vita has proved to be my absolute favorite. The key aspect for me, is the games. While there haven't been a large number of AAA - blockbuster titles for the system, there has been tons of absolutely incredible games. I'll list some of my favorites:

Persona 4 Golden - This game is almost universally acclaimed as the game to buy on Vita. In fact, it was the game that sold me on the vita in the first place. I had never played a Persona game before, but it proved to be an excellent starting point for me. It is a JRPG with pokemon-esque battling, and a strong social aspect. The gameplay is exciting and addictive, the story is tight and powerful, and the sound design is some of the best around. It's most certainly a hallmark vita game.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - This pair of games are an absolutely insane experience. If the idea of a bunch of students are forced to kill each other, in order to escape a crazy school, by a diabolical teddy bear intrigues you; this is your kind of game. While humorous, this game is absolutely gripping. The gameplay consists of several phases. In the first, you get to know the other students. Then a murder occurs, and it is a madrush to find clues. Afterwords, you work with your classmates to try to determine the killer Ace Attorney style.

Killzone: Mercenary - This is an excellent example of the power of the vita. Killzone: Mercenary runs on a modified version of the console's engine. The visuals are breathtaking, the action stunning, and has excellent gameplay. While the story is exceptionally short, the game is setup for replays very well. It is a hardcore FPS, unlike any other handheld I've experienced.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd - These games really caught me by surprise. I had never heard of vocaloids, nor was I particularly fond of 'bullshit anime' games. Still, I was craving the 'press the button to the music' type of game that Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f was. I was blown away by how addictive the music is, and how addicting the gameplay is. The difficulty is scalable, but is absolutely brutal at the more difficult levels. If you enjoyed games similar to Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and want a similar type of game; these are an excellent pair to look at.

There are also some excellent ports. Guacamelee!, Rayman Origins, Spelunky, and Hotline Miami are all excellent examples, but there are a lot more. If mobile gaming is something you're looking for, there's really not a better way to play any of these games.

Remasters are also totally a thing. For newer gamers who may not have experienced some of the greats, this is an excellent option. Final Fantasy X/ X-2 HD Remaster, Grim Fandango Remastered, The Sly Collection, and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection are all excellent examples.

There's this perception that the vita doesn't have a lot of games. That's just not true. I've purchased more games for my vita than I have with any other console previously. The starting pricepoint of 40 dollars, the PSN sales, and the easy availability certainly doesn't help the matter; but there is clearly a ton of excellent games. The vita has an astounding diversity of games, and has plenty for anyone to love. The one area that it does lack in however, is in the big new AAA games. If you can convince yourself to look past those, there really are a wealth of games to be experienced.
