I'll second Peter F Hamilton I've read everything he has put out and it never gets old for me.
    Older SF would be
-Robert A heinlein and Frank Herbert

Recently read favorite are Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Dawn Trilogy and 2312

    I'll start.

My favourite SF book so far is: Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space.

The ideas, the action, and most of all the characters are what sucked me in. I especially liked Ilia Volyova, she was just fantastic.

    A few close contenders were:

    - Stephen Baxter Manifold: Space

    - Peter F Hamilton Nights Dawn Trilogy
