Complaint filed against Philly cop for apparently Nazi-inspired tattoos
An activist who snapped photos of a Philadelphia police officer with apparently Nazi-inspired tattoos on his arms has filed a complaint against him, saying the tattoos violate the department’s code of conduct and questioning his continued employment. Evan Parish Matthews, who took the photos of Officer Ian Hans Lichtermann at the Black Resistance March on July 26 during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, posted the images on Facebook Wednesday night, along with the text of a complaint he said was filed against the officer.

Philly hoagie joint: We're closed while we find 'better' employees
It's not a shortage of manpower, but a shortage of talent. Fink's Hoagies on Jewelers Row is closed from Monday through Friday so it can "continue our quest to find better employees to serve you," according to a sign on the door, a voicemail message and a Facebook post on Monday. Students beaten, horse punched in mob attacks at Temple University
Four teenagers have been arrested after mobs of juveniles staged a series of vicious attacks on students around the Temple University campus. Police said students were surrounded, punched, kicked, robbed and in some cases knocked to the ground in a spate of attacks by groups of teens on Friday night. Packs of between 20 and 100 young people roved the area near the university campus in northern Philadelphia for nearly two hours from 8pm and picked on people at random.

Salvation Army store manager says boss told her not to worry about collapse danger
Among the survivors of the deadly 2013 Center City building collapse, Salvation Army thrift store manager Margarita Agosto is unique. Like other survivors, she is suing for physical and emotional injuries sustained when an unbraced three- to four-story wall on a demolition site toppled and crushed the store at 22nd and Market Streets. Unlike other survivors, Agosto is being blamed by her former employer for not recognizing the danger of a collapse, and thus not closing the store and saving lives.

Mayhem continues as 200 teens crash Philadelphia mall for Snapchat-planned brawl, officials say
The mayhem that has rippled through malls in more than a dozen states continued Tuesday evening, when about 200 rowdy teenagers showed up en masse at a Philadelphia mall in a gathering planned on Snapchat, officials said. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told ABC affiliate WPVI that police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Philadelphia Mills Mall at about 6:45 p.m. The large group arrived by bus, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, but only about 30 or 40 were able to get inside.

Girl Scout robbed while selling cookies in Philadelphia
A Girl Scout who was selling cookies in Center City was robbed Saturday afternoon. According to police, the girl was near the 400 block of South 16th Street when a man stole $50 in cash. It happened just before 5 p.m. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'1" tall, is believed to be in his late teens to early 20's, clean shaven and was last seen wearing a gray sweat jacket.

Philly 'Carnaval' Canceled Over Fears of Immigrant Crackdown
One of Philadelphia’s most prominent Latin American events, El Carnaval de Puebla, has been canceled this year because of what one organizer called “the severe conditions affecting the immigrant community.” The annual parade through South Philadelphia has taken place in late April or early May for the last decade and is the city’s largest Cinco de Mayo celebration. Organizer Edgar Ramirez said as many as 15,000 gather from as far as New England and Chicago.

Philadelphia police officer Cyrus Mann stood on a rain-slicked road, pointed his gun at a moving car and pulled the trigger five times, hitting the driver. BLM Protests Fundraiser for Suspended Cop Who Fatally Shot Black Man
Black Lives Matter protesters reportedly cursed at officers outside a police union fundraiser for a White officer who’s been suspended after fatally shooting a Black man in the back following a traffic stop. Asa Khalif, one of the group’s coordinators, shouted at police through a bullhorn on Sunday that, “It’s a disgrace you’re having a party for a murderer.” Union president John McNesby declined comment. Police commissioner Richard Ross says Officer Ryan Pownall has been suspended and should be terminated later this month.

Boy, 3, shot in the head by 6-year-old brother, police say
Police in Philadelphia say a 3-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in the head by his 6-year-old brother. Authorities say the younger boy suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his forehead just after 3 p.m. Saturday. The two boys were on the second floor of their north Philadelphia home when the shooting happened.
