A Christian news website is outraged after a high schooler in Ohio was given a suspension for posting Bible verses around her school in the belief that they would “heal” some of her LGBTQ peers. According to Faithwire, Gabby Helsinger was suspended by Lebanon High School principal Scott Butler over the verses she shared in response to rainbow flags flown by her school’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club.

Sandusky, Ohio, is a small city on the shores of Lake Erie. It's best known among Midwesterners as the home of Cedar Point, an amusement park famed for its abundance of roller coasters. But last week city leaders took steps that could make Sandusky known as a leader of democracy, too: They declared Election Day a paid holiday – by swapping out Columbus Day. "A lot's happened in the last three years that had us thinking a lot about voter access and democracy, and so we thought it was a really natural switch," Sandusky City Manager Eric Wobser tells NPR. Teens arrested for wrecking early Christmas display for boy with terminal cancer
Police say two teens accused of slashing Christmas decorations set up in an Ohio neighborhood to help a child diagnosed with terminal cancer celebrate the holiday early have been arrested. Police in the Cincinnati suburb of Colerain Township said Thursday the juveniles were caught after a neighbor saw them slashing a decoration late Wednesday. Police didn't release any information about charges. The decorations are up for 2-year-old Brody Allen, whose family says this could be his last Christmas celebration. Some inflatable yard decorations, including a Santa, were slashed the past few days.

Grocery store employee admits to eating $9,200 worth of deli meat, charged with felony
BOLIVAR, Ohio (WSYX) -- A grocery store employee with a hankering for lunch meat is facing felony theft charges after she was accused of eating $9,200 worth of deli meat from a Giant Eagle store in Ohio. The Canton Repository said the loss prevention manager received a tip that the employee had been nibbling on the meat at the deli, eating three to five slices of ham every day over a course of eight years. She also ate salami.

Ohio couple sentenced in overdose death of 16-month old child
A Youngstown, Ohio couple whose toddler died from a drug overdose was sentenced to prison Friday. Joshua Essad, 32, and Sara Loth, 31, pleaded guilty of reckless homicide and child endangerment Friday, for the death of their 16-month old child. According to Youngstown police, the child died from exposure to the drug carfentanil in July. Carfentanil is around 100 times more potent than fentanyl and 5,000 times more powerful than heroin.

An Ohio lawmaker who routinely touted his Christian faith and anti-LGBT views has resigned after being caught having sex with a man in his office. Wes Goodman, who is the Republican state legislator for Ohio, is married to a woman who is assistant director of an annual anti-abortion rally known as March for Life. The right-wing legislator, who pushed “family values”, was reportedly witnessed having sex with a man inside his office who was not employed by the legislator.
