UConn sophomore Breanna Stewart wins 2014 Women's Naismith Trophy
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Connecticut sophomore Breanna Stewart not only became the sixth UConn player to win the Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T, but she joined some stellar company in becoming just the seventh player to win the Naismith Trophy in both high school and college. Former Huskies star Maya Moore was the last to achieve that feat -- having won the Naismith Trophy twice in high school (2006, 2007) and twice in college (2009, 2011).

NCAA players requesting to join labor union
For the first time in the history of college sports, athletes are asking to be represented by a labor union, taking formal steps on Tuesday to begin the process of being recognized as employees. The president of the National College Players Association, filed a petition in Chicago on behalf of football players at Northwestern University, submitting the form at the regional office of the National Labor Relations Board.
