Danish prosecutors will seek to have inventor Peter Madsen jailed for life for killing Swedish journalist Kim Wall on his homebuilt submarine in a premeditated murder, possibly by either cutting her throat or strangling her, police said on Tuesday. Wall, a 30-year-old freelance journalist who was researching a stry on the entrepreneur and aerospace engineer, went missing after Madsen took her out to sea in his 56-foot submarine in August last year.

Prosecutors had sought a life sentence, but a Burlington County Superior Court judge returned a sentence of 50 years Friday for a man convicted of fatally stabbing the mother of one of his children. Rashon A. Causey, 40, must serve more than 42 years before becoming eligible for parole. He killed Shanai Marshall, 37, in her Monroe Street home in Burlington City in 2016 after forcing his way inside. A Lebanese Uber driver has confessed to killing a British diplomat in Beirut, a judicial source has told the Guardian. The body of Rebecca Dykes was found at the side of a motorway east of the country's capital, Beirut, on Saturday, a British embassy spokesperson confirmed. It is thought she may have been sexually assaulted before being strangled, authorities said. She was planning to fly home to the UK for Christmas on Saturday. A family spokesman said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Rebecca.

Shop assistant Hasna Begum has been jailed for life after she stabbed 23-year-old part-time DJ Pietro Sanna 36 times. Former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager faces 19 to 24 years in prison for the deadly shooting of unarmed black man Walter Scott, according to sentencing guidelines announced by a judge this morning. U.S. District Judge David Norton will announce later today the amount of time Slager will serve, which is expected to be within that range. The former officer could have faced life in prison.
