Hello, so how does this level system work?

Rather than just say hello might as well bring a topic to the table. What's with this tribe cap based on levels? What's the reason for them? How do we gain levels? Thanks in advanced.

You get levels through participation! Voting, commenting, posting, following - pretty much everything contributes to your level. I've only been here a few days myself and am really enjoying the leveling system. It provides you with a nice introduction to the site without overloading you with features, and I haven't encountered any problems with the caps yet, myself.

      Apparently I'm a tribe slut.

And wouldn't you know it, as soon as I post this I get a pop up with some info about it. So, to be helpful to other newbies the max level is 50. You get levels by interacting with the site. Posting stuff, commenting, getting upvotes, all that will gain you levels. At level 2 I can sub to 55 tribes!

The leveling system is awesome. Rather than just having a basic number of points you've racked up over time, it actually encourages you in an intelligent and complex way to participate and engage in quality discussions and content. This system certainly will help prevent the "free rider" problem at the same extent that other sites have it and should encourage overall a more active userbase.
