Getting My First Post Out of the Way
Getting my feet wet and I wanted to say hi . Hi!
My User ID says it all I'm an Old Tall Guy, I'll probably be one of the oldest members in age in that I'll be turning 60 soon. Yes, I do know how to use a computer for more than email and Facebook. I've been an I.T. tech for more than 30 years, gone from pumping boxes full of cards through a card reader in order to get a program to run, all the way to asking a tech question and getting an answer from the other side of the world in seconds.
Obviously being a bit older I may have a different perspective on things; just a sec; HEY KID GET OFF MY LAWN! Sorry about that, damn kids. Anyway this looks like a nice place and I'd like to settle in for a bit if you don't mind.
One last thing, thank you to the administrator or whoever it was that sent me an invite, I'll pass the favor along to someone I think will fit in.

I like the look and feel of it, like most sites with a lot of options it takes time to find all the settings but that will come. It seems like it was designed well and it is easy on the eyes. No complaints from me.
Agreed! It is a very appealing website but I know that some people were posing in the lounge about wanting to be able to search for snaps within a tribe just one of a few things people though could be better. Personally though I love it.

In all seriousness, as a techie myself, you are like a God to me. Do you use BSD and stuff?
I am not a god, just a minor deity. I don't think I used BSD throughout the ages, I did use an early version of Unix in the 80s and I've used Redhat and Centos versions of Linux, BSD was one I never ran across.
I've yet to check out BSD. even though it looks interesting. I've been on Linux for 11 years and am no spring chicken either. Anyway, welcome.

It's funny that you mention your age - I get the feeling that the community that existed here prior to the big influx from reddit skewed a bit older as well, so you may not be alone. I'm always excited about knowing there are diverse perspectives around, so I hope to see you in some future discussions soon. Cheers!
I'm thinking you are correct. I can sometimes tell the age of a person just by looking at the tribes they have joined..And sometimes not. chortle
