Twitter has shut down former KKK leader David Duke's account
Twitter on Thursday permanently suspended the Twitter account of David Duke, the former leader of the Ku Klux Klan. Duke's account has been active since 2009, according to an archived version on the Wayback Machine, and had more than 53,000 followers. Activist account Sleeping Giants first spotted that Duke's account had been suspended.

Ku Klux Klan donation account suspended by PayPal
PayPal suspended an account used to raise funds by one of the US's largest white supremacist groups six days after it was first flagged by an anti-bigotry campaigner. The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan had promoted the account via a donation page on its website. PayPal acted on Friday after others picked up on the issue and urged it to block the recipient.

Catholic priest apologises for burning KKK cross in a black couple's garden
A Catholic priest and former Ku Klux Klan member has apologised to a black couple for erecting a burning cross in their front garden during a campaign of abuse more than 40 years ago. Father William Aitcheson wrote a handwritten letter to Philip and Barbara Butler saying he “sincerely regrets the suffering he caused” when he burned a cross in front of the heir home in College Park, Maryland in January 1977.

Heather Heyer was killed when James Allen Fields Jr. allegedly drove a car into a crowd of protesters at high speed, then fled the scene by backing up. Nineteen other people were injured. Fields was among a group of white nationalists protesting the removal of a Confederate statue in a Charlottesville, VA, park.

Torch-wielding Virginia protestors gather by Confederate status, chant Nazi rhetoric
Several dozen torch-wielding protestors gathered Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., chanting Nazi rhetoric as well as "Russia is our friend." Mayor Mike Signer has issued a statement likening the event to a KKK demonstration. The group congregated in Lee Park by a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, which is slated to be removed from the premises later this year following a February city council vote. Earlier in the day, protestors had also gathered at nearby Jackson Park, voicing their commitment to protecting what they called their "white heritage."
