Subscription limit

I've mentioned this a couple of times so far, but this seems like the ideal place to put it.

My main complaint about Snapzu so far is about the subscription limit. I'm sure there's a good reason to have this in place, I probably just don't see it yet. However, if the intention of the site is to promote activity, I see this having the opposite effect. With the smaller userbase and less clutter, the official tribes look more interesting than many of the equivalent subreddits, and I would like to subscribe to many of them. In addition, I would also like to subscribe to the emerging tribes that many of the new members are bringing over from reddit, even if they're only just emerging and may not have any snaps yet. I want these tribes to succeed and I want to be active in them, but the subscription limit means I can't subscribe to them all.

The subscription limit goes up dramatically the more you level. At level 8, I think I can subscribe to every tribe out there and have some left over.

I've discovered that it increases, but I still feel it hampers activity. At level 6 I still don't have enough subscriptions to subscribe to all of the default tribes that interest me and all of the tiny emerging tribes I'd like to help grow. With the biggest (and extremely solvable) problem of the site being a tiny userbase, I dislike the idea of making participation more difficult.

Another good point someone brought up is that the limit encourages meaningless activity in order to increase the level. Requiring a certain number of comments, snaps, etc. can be good because it rewards experience, but it also rewards spam. Lurkers that rarely participate are also punished with the current system.

Agreed. Wouldn't be surprised to see this limit raised in the next update, which had been set for next month before the influx. Hope so.
