A furore over a paedophile's links to Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson has triggered the collapse of Iceland's ruling coalition. The Bright Future party announced it was withdrawing from the three-party coalition after nine months in office. It blamed a "serious breach of trust within the government". No Icelanders taking part in a new poll who were aged 25 or younger and identify themselves as Christians believe the world was created by God. The poll, commissioned by the Icelandic Ethical Humanist Association, an association of atheists, documented that a record low number of Icelanders – 4.4 percent – say they are religious.

Iceland makes it illegal to pay men more than women
Iceland has become the first country in the world to make it illegal to pay men more than women. Under the legislation, companies and government agencies with more than 25 employees will be required to obtain government certification for their equal-pay policies. Those failing to demonstrate pay equality will face fines.
