Photographer Wills Glasspiegel shares his candid shots of the figures at the heart of Chicago's footwork community.

The footwork master lays down a brilliant track on the turn of a dime.

In spring 2012 an entourage from DWT went to Chicago to document the Footwork Scene. A scene ingrained in the lineage of the City itself, filled with effervescent dancers, storytellers and beat makers. It was single handedly the most unique and in-depth tour we had ever experienced.

The Chicago producer died before the music he helped define could break out, but he's still inspiring his Teklife crew—which is releasing a compilation to benefit his young son.

On a basic level, Earl's podcast is an extended Next Life preview, as the initial two-thirds of the mix is dominated by selections from the compilation. Nevertheless, the young producer was also smart enough to not pass up an opportunity to showcase his own talents, which is why the podcast's closing run consists of nothing but unreleased cuts, all of which Earl himself at the very least had a hand in producing.
