Linking the country’s high central mountains with the famous west coast fjords, the 108km Sognefjellet Road is one of Norway’s most spectacular drives.

A wall of fog envelops the town of Los Alamos, New Mexico, wrapping around the base of the Jemez Mountains.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this true-color image of a river of smoke passing over the Greenland Sea. The smoke most likely arose from fires in Canada and Alaska.

Taken by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center on Feb. 24, 2015. Remote sensing of ocean color in the Yellow Sea can be a challenge. Phytoplankton, suspended sediments, and dissolved organic matter color the water while various types of aerosols modify those colors before they are "seen" by orbiting radiometers.

DSCOVR looks earthward, taking images of our planet using 10 different color channels, allowing scientists to monitor climate change among other important gauges of Earth.

With dolphins

In 2008, I went to Svalbard. The day this was taken we were just outside of Longyearbyen looking for fossils. I saw the mountain in the distance but realized my 100mm lens couldn't capture the scene. I took 5 shots of the mountain, made sure there was an overlap and took the pictures home to edit later. This is perhaps the fourth time I've edited the photo, this time it's done in LR's native photomerging tool.
