Dealing with technical issues after recording

During my time recording a LP of Alien Isolation, which is a title that does not allow you to save any time you want... I ran into video card driver issues. Further more, you only have two save points at max. Meaning you can't go back if you find an issue with your footage.

I dealt with video hanging yet with audio continuing. Basically, the recording software was dropping every frame it was being passed for about 5 seconds.

Because of the nature of the game, I was unable to re-record the footage and was left to find clever ways to explain what was happening. My luck is that this all started happening in the last hour of a 18 hour series. I hope it doesn't... alienate... anyone.(lame puns but I love them)

What ways have you dealt with less that optimal footage?

I haven't had much issues with Video most of the time my issues stem from Audio, Occasionally i'll get weird clipping in my audio where it seems to smash my audio together it's really weird and it annoys me greatly. In my attempts to get rid of it I've used Audacity to record my audio separately but that has a weird issue where it stretches my audio and adds extra blank space to my recording is multiple places that i have to cut out in editing.

These issues are extremely annoying and i've nearly stopped series because of the issues, though i always go back and try to edit the audio to the best of my ability.
