Boston Marathon bomber loses bid for new trial, told to pay $101M
A federal judge on Friday rejected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's bid for a new trial and ordered him to pay victims of the deadly attack more than $101 million in restitution. The restitution order, issued by Judge George O'Toole Jr., is seen as largely symbolic because Tsarnaev is in federal prison and has no ability to pay. Tsarnaev, 22, was convicted and sentenced last year to death in the 2013 attack.

Red Sox hire Dave Dombrowski for front office
BOSTON -- The Red Sox demonstrated their strong desire to bring the organization back to prominence by hiring Dave Dombrowski to be their president of baseball operations, effective immediately. General manager Ben Cherington declined the opportunity to continue as GM, but he has agreed to assist Dombrowski during the transition. Former Braves GM Frank Wren is the front-runner for the position, according to a report by USA Today.

2 suspects in Boston art theft worth $500 million are dead, FBI says
The two men suspected of masquerading as police officers to rob an art museum of $500 million worth of masterpieces in 1990 are dead, the FBI said. Two years ago, investigators announced that they knew who stole 13 works — including paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer — from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, but they refused to elaborate, saying only that the investigation was focused on recovering the artwork.
