Snapzu Plays Diplomacy

Hey /t/boardgames,

A few weeks ago there were a bunch of people interested in trying out Diplomacy for the first time. Apparently this thing called Reddit decided to fall apart and the flood of users has lost the momentum of the online Diplomacy game for the fellow Snapzites. Of the 7 players we had slated to play, 1 is far too busy for it, since all his free time is spent on the site. And the other must have gone on vacation or something, since he hasn't been on Snapzu for a week and a half. That means we have two free spots in our game. No experience required, but please read up on the rules before you join.

First come first served to join in the game. If there's an outpouring of people who want to play, someone else can organize simultaneous games for the overflow. Just so you know 4/5 players will be playing for the first time. I've promised to be as helpful a Diplomat as I can be for the newbies. So certainly any interested players are welcome. All we ask is that you can commit to communicating with everyone in a friendly manner, and submitting moves every 24 hours (it doesn't take too long to do.) If you have any specific questions about Diplomacy, I'm sure I can probably answer them.

Diplomacy’s rules are simple and easy to learn. They're elegant, in that there's no way to simplify them any further. It's a Great Powers of Europe boardgame set around the turn of the Twentieth Century.

To play, everyone writes out simple orders, hands them in and they're all processed at once for the turn. The complexity comes in if you want, say for instance you want to make some kind of agreement with another player. You don't have to, though. It can be surprisingly straightforward, or not.

The idea at Snapzu is to use an online judge to make it that much easier.

Has anyone asked long-time Diplomacy player /u/ODaly to play?

Done. Username is 'alex4864', seeing as 'BilboSwaggins' was curiously taken.
