Please Read Before Posting For the First Time

We thought we would sticky a few tips about posting to Snapzu in general and /t/blender specifically. Please try to follow these tips before posting as it will hopefully make browsing much easier for everyone.

There are three ways to post on Snapzu. You can either 'Submit a Link', 'Submit a Discussion' or 'Post Something directly on Snapzu'.

1) Submit a Link:

Most likely, you will want to choose 'Submit a Link'. This is suitable for: News articles, Downloads, Tutorials, Images of Yours/Others' Scenes, Helpful Websites etc... So, if you have a few renders you would like to share, then upload them to Imgur.com or another image hosting site, and use this link in your submission.

Title and Intro

Having processed the link Snapzu will take you to your submission form. The layout is fairly self-explanatory, but I'll point out some important points. Of course first you will want to type out a title and an introduction. Your title should explain exactly what the link is showing, and the introduction can give your thoughts on it or ask questions of members who will see it. Make sure to click Save straight after entering your title and intro!! Snapzu will revert to what it retrieved automatically from your link if you later publish without having saved.

Snap Configuration

On the right you will see a box called Snap Configuration. Here you must use the drop down box to tag your upload with the most appropriate tag, label it as Not Safe For Work if your image has any nudity, gore etc... (unlikely!), and choose a different thumbnail if you wish (Snapzu should automatically fetch one from your link). You also have an important option of choosing where to publish your snap. /t/blender should automatically be included if you sumbitted the link from our home page. However, you can cross post to many different tribes, and that is something you should certainly consider doing if your post is relevant. Just click on 'choose' under 'where to publish' and choose either Snapzu's recommended tribes, or search for a specific one. You can post to 3 different tribes, although this can increase as your levels increase.

Should you wish to 'Enhance Your Post' you can add a module. This will allow you to include extra text, images, links, videos and even maps. Click your desired module and Snapzu will add it under your main link. Taking images as an example, you can then click on edit and Snapzu will allow you to upload your image directly to your Snap. Generally this feature isn't needed, but there may be occasions that it is useful.

Sources and Tags, VERY IMPORTANT.

Finally, and very importantly for this sub, we have the sources and tags. PLEASE INCLUDE SOURCES whenever you are uploading work that isn't yours. Check to see who the artist of an image you are uploading is, and try to find his website, facebook page or even twitter. Provide as good a source for your submission as you can, to ensure the artists get credit for their work. Including a source is simple, just click sources, and then provide the source link. Consider also including tags such as 'Blender', '3d modelling', 'Art' as these will help Snapzu users search for this submissions.

2) Submit a Discussion

This kind of submission is very self explanatory and doesn't need must guidance. Discussion's can be used for many things such as talking about new features in Blender, asking the community for advice and asking for help troubleshooting an issue you are having. If you are having a problem in Blender that you wish to find help for, then please consider uploading helpful screenshots. Your description of your problem may be clear to you since you have been dealing with it, but screenshots can help everyone else understand and see the issues in your blend. If you wish, you could also upload your blend file to a host and link it in your discussion. That way helpful members can take a look in depth at the problem.

Use these formatting buttons to make your text more readable, and to include links to images.

3) Post directly to Snapzu

The process here is very similar to Submitting a link however Snapzu will allow you to directly upload you images etc... to the website. Simply add your required modules and fill out the submission form in the same manner described in 1). This type of post can be useful for uploading a gallery of your own renders.
