bomb-sniffing dog has been fired from the CIA after she lost interest in finding explosives. Lulu the labrador started out as a promising recruit in the latest intake of puppies for the US intelligence agency's training programme. Then, according to the agency, a few weeks later she started showing signs she was no longer interested in “detecting explosive odours”. Lulu's handlers tried to work out what was affecting her, as puppies can go through periods where they lose focus in their training.

A toddler in China was trying to use an electric scooter when a small dog ran up, jumped on the toy and slowly rode away. Luckily, the thief was caught and the scooter returned.

People often say our love of miniatures is about control, that we find pleasure in being large and able to manipulate the small. We learn it as children, with dollhouses, you are empowered to put the bed in the bedroom, or put the toilet in the bedroom, if you want.

A seven-year-old girl with an amputated leg has been filmed showing new pink prosthetic blade to her friends for the first time, who hug her with happiness when they see it. Anu, who had her leg amputated soon after she was born, is seen entering a school playground in Birmingham in the BBC Midlands Today footage, when her friends rush over to see her wearing the new activity prosthetic leg for the first time.

Just so sweet and wonderful to watch.

A baby elephant who lost part of her foot in a snare has been receiving hydrotherapy to help her walk again. Six-month-old "Clear Sky" was wounded three months ago when she stepped into a trap laid by farmers to protect their crops in Thailand. She was found hobbling and alone after being separated from her mother.
