Audi’s Electric Vehicle Shares Its Name With The French Word For Excrement

German automaker Audi should have thought about checking with its neighbors in France before settling on a name for its new all-electric line, the e-tron. As it happens, it’s a little too close to the French word “étron,” which means “excrement” or “turd.” Audi is literally calling its new vehicle a POS.

Audi R8 (2019): updated supercar brings new Performance model

Audi has revealed its 2018 R8 supercar range, with both coupe and Spyder versions getting a facelift and refresh under the skin. Gone is the R8 V10 Plus model, as it’s been renamed R8 V10 Performance, much like the outgoing RS6 and RS7 Performance models.

    2018 Audi R8 V-10 Plus Competition Package: A Spicy-Looking Track Slayer

Topline: Audi will bring just 10 of the special-edition R8 V10 Plus Coupe with the Competition Package to the United States. What's New: Every one of the 10 cars bears identical Suzuka Grey paint with the black exterior detail package, which trims the grille and vents with black outlines. Leather adorns the interior, where bucket seats with red stitching cup the driver in place, and a 13-speaker, 550-watt Bang & Olufsen stereo system does its best to drown out the R8's 5.2-liter V-10, which is nearly identical to the one found in the Lamborghini Huracan.

Mechanics are Putting Electric Tesla Motors in Audis and Mazdas

You don’t have to own a Tesla to drive a Tesla—or, at least, a car that runs like one. Elon Musk’s electric car company is notoriously grumpy about Tesla owners working on their own cars, but that hasn’t stopped enthusiastic mechanics from fixing up the vehicles and even lifting the electric motors out of Teslas and putting them in the chassis of other, formerly gas guzzling cars.

Audi To Make Its Models More Distinct From Each Other

Audi has revealed that it will slowly move away from its cookie-cutter design philosophy. In recent years, the brand’s various vehicles have adopted remarkably similar designs, sometimes to the point of being almost identical to each other. However, the German marque recently admitted to Autocar that it will start to make its vehicles look more defined.

The Audi R8 May Be Going RWD For Some Reason

I once sat around a table with senior U.S. brass from Audi and was laughed at for asking if the brand would ever introduce a drift mode like many of its rivals. Well now rumors and teases indicate Audi will instead offer an R8 that’s always in drift mode with a rear-wheel drive model. Who’s laughing now?

Germany's transport minister says luxury automaker Audi used software to cheat on diesel emissions tests, an allegation that has already caused trouble for its parent company Volkswagen. Audi cars 'will talk to traffic lights', firm says

Audi is introducing technology that will allow its cars to communicate with traffic lights, the manufacturer has announced. It will tell drivers when lights are due to turn green and when they will not make it before a light turns red. The firm said it was meant to make driving less stressful, rather than as a safety aid, it was reported. It will require a significant investment to make it viable in the UK, one expert said.

Inside Audi's wonderfully improbable project to put a rover on the Moon

Much to the disappointment of space nerds everywhere, man has not stepped foot on the Moon in more than 40 years. Governments have sent expensive robots and satellites to our nearest celestial neighbor, but the Moon remains woefully under-explored. That's why Google and the X Prize foundation teamed up to offer $30 million to the first private enterprise that can soft-land a robot on the surface of the Moon and have it traverse 500 meters of the lunar surface.
