Snapzu, if you could make one product disappear forever, which one would it be?

Pay to win games. Either release the game with a price and everything unlocked or don't charge us money to continue the game.

    Pesticides. Because Bees.

Not to mention how pesticide run off affects the ocean!

Agricultural runoff can cause algae blooms, which then die and create oceanic dead zones - large swathes of the ocean without enough oxygen to sustain life.

Huh, I guess you have another way of producing food for billions of people?

Actually, I grow a garden every year that feeds 4 families and I sell excess of my crops off, probably grow enough to feed 10 families total. Not once have I used pesticides. But, yes, by all means keep using those pesticides to feed billions of people today, that way when the Bee population is gone, we won't have any crops to feed any of those people tomorrow.

I'm not saying overuse of pesticides is good but what mostly kills bees right now is a certain type of mites, not pesticides.

Looking at the amount of food waste, probably fine without pesticides. It'd just require more labor to pick away bugs and relocate animals that get into food.

The amount of food waste has nothing to do with pesticides. Without pesticides a whole lot of that food wouldnt ever be produced. I think you underestimate the damage that bugs can deal to large scale single crop farming.

Then maybe we should think about farming bugs. Those things are full of protein and they take up less resources than traditional animal stock, which is what a lot of our crops go to. We rely so heavily on pesticides because we don't want to overhaul the way we farm for a country, and because selling pesticides and pesticide-resistant plants are just too profitable.

I'd like to think that if every commercial pesticide vanished off the face of the earth we wouldn't let ourselves starve.

They actually already do! I've been subscribed for some time now to the newsletter of AgriProtein (http://agriprotein.com/). They've actually got an industrial scale factory up and running! Check it out, it's really cool stuff.

              @exikon -

              This is seriously cool. :0

              Thanks for the link!

I think I'd ban the selfie stick. Sure, not fatal, but honestly the whole selfie thing needs to die. It's like people can't just attend some event or go somewhere without taking a picture of themselves and more often than not you only see their face, not whatever is going on there.

Slightly off topic, but do you know those secret-agent-gimmic umbrellas with a built in rifle? I the future the secret rifels will be built into selfie-sticks

Not true, how will the stealthy stick provide the bullet proof protection of the open umbrella? Also only gentleman agents use umbrellas and a gentleman wouldn't be caught dead with a selfie stick.

    Clamshell packaging. Like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Wrap_Rage_Example.jpg

It's nearly impossible to open, there is too much packaging for the actual product, and I always cut myself while trying to open it.

Whoever invented it can go to hell.

Yes. What is even the point of clamshell packaging?

      • Wenjarich
        +2

I think it might be something to do with optimisation of space (because they don't take up as much space a boxes), still provides protection (they're pretty robust) and also marketing ( they keep things neatly in place and allow you to see the product). Just my guesses though.

They certainly could make they easier to open though. :/

Cable news. As far as I'm concerned, it's just pure propaganda.

Nuclear powered weapons, because that shit scares me. I don't wanna see a mushroom cloud and then die by having my face melt off a few seconds later that's bullshit!

Seafood (or rather the concept of getting food from the sea). Because then people will stop looking at me funny when I say I don't eat seafood.

    • spoderman
      +2

Why not eat seafood? I love sushi <3

      • Wenjarich
        +2

But you wouldn't if the concept of food from the sea was removed and then you wouldn't be asking me that question :P

Nah I don't know. It really sounds stupid whenever I actually say it but EVERY SINGLE TIME I have tried any seafood dish, because "No trust me this one is amazing, you'll absolutely love it.", I have hated it. I think maybe I was attacked by a mutant plate of seafood when I was a child or something because I must have some kind of psychological aversion to it or something haha.

Short sleeved shirts. Those are the most horrible piece of clothing ever created imo, even before crocs.
