My story involves both grandparents and parents. I'll make it quick.

My grandfather on my mother's side, and my grandmother on my father's side both died of cancer. Leaving my father's dad and mother's mom single for years.

My parents met, started dating, and eventually got engaged.

During their engagement, my living grandparents fell in love and eloped. Effectively making my parents step-siblings.

They followed through with the wedding plans and I was born the following year.

Sadly my best parental story is also the weirdest.

It is sweet. I also realize how lucky I am that this is the weirdest thing about my parents.

Not really relevant but this just popped into my head: My Grandmother died when she was 91 years old. I went down to her funeral (in Florida of all places) and my Aunt told me she had a boyfriend in the retirement home and that they were getting it on. He was 96. Not surprised as my Grandma was a flapper girl in the 20s and was an awesome lady. At her funeral my Aunt pulled me aside and said "I want you to meet someone" and introduced me to the boyfriend named Horace Greeley. I shook his hand hard. "Pleased to meet you sir". I hope I have that kind of stamina. :)

Not a great story but I like the way my parents met. My Mother was a farm girl who grew up in Canada. My Dad was a big city American boy who was doing his PhD in Archaeology. His thesis project involved excavating and analyzing a site near her small town. He hired some local boys to dig the dirt for him and, after getting to know them well and having a couple of late nights drinking beer at the site, the local boys invited him for a family dinner with the eight siblings and a bunch of other relatives. And then he became a regular at the Saturday night dinners. My Dad was a dog and ended up picking up their little sister. They married the next year in the church in that little farm town and moved back to the States so he could finish his program and then join different faculties. My Mom and Dad got along great but it was also evident that he was super good friends with his brother-in-laws who all went on to be very successful and that was super nice to see.

My mom was snooping through my things and found some condoms. She thought they were candy and asked if she could have one.
