Causes of Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy also induces fatigue, numbness and discomfort, usually in the hands and feet, as a result of damage to the nerves beyond the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves). It can affect other parts of the body as well. Your peripheral nervous system transfers information to the rest of the body from your brain and your spinal cord (central nervous system). Sensory input is often sent from the peripheral nerves to the central nervous system.
Traumatic injuries, illnesses, metabolic disorders, inherited causes, and exposure to toxins may result in peripheral neuropathy. Diabetes is one of the most common causes. The pain is usually characterised by people with peripheral neuropathy as stabbing, burning or tingling. Symptoms improve in many situations especially if triggered by a treatable illness. You can now cure neuropathy pain by drugs.
Symptoms- Any nerve has a particular role in your peripheral system, but the symptoms depend on the type of nerve affected. Nerves are divided into:-
Sensory nerves that get stimuli from the skin, such as temperature, discomfort, vibration or touch,
Motor nerves that govern the movement of muscles
Autonomic muscles, such as blood pressure, heart rate, metabolism, and bladder, regulate functions
Peripheral neuropathy indications and symptoms can include:-
Gradual onset of numbness in your feet or palms, prickling or tingling, which may extend upward through your legs and arms
Pain that is sharp, jabbing, throbbing or burning
Extreme contact sensitivity
Pain during things that do not cause pain, such as when you place weight on them or when they are under a towel, pain in the feet
Lack of coordination and deterioration
Weakness of muscles
Feeling as if you're wearing socks or gloves when you're not
If motor nerves are impaired, paralysis
If it affects autonomic nerves, signs and symptoms can include:-
Intolerance of Heat
Excessive perspiration or being unable to sweat
Problems of the intestine, bladder or digestion
Blood pressure changes, causing dizziness or lightheadedness
One nerve (mononeuropathy), two or three nerves in separate locations (multiple mononeuropathy), or more nerves may be affected by peripheral neuropathy (polyneuropathy). An example of mononeuropathy is Carpal tunnel syndrome. Many persons with peripheral neuropathy suffer from polyneuropathy.
