Stitches: When purchasing a sewing machine, one of the most important factors to remember is the amount of stitches available. Straight stitch, zigzag stitch, buttonholes, and blind hem stitch are all common stitches. However, these stitches are very simple and may not be necessary for all sewers. You may want to start with a standard machine and then update until you've figured out what you want to sew.
