Tips to Prevent Ants from Entering Your House

Spring and summer are a welcome change for everyone. We get to do more outdoor activities, the weather begins to get warmer and of course, everything starts to turn green again. The one big drawback to this great time of year is that developing new Ant pest control issues brings the bugs back out. In the south, the ant is one of the more troublesome and irritating common household pests. These creatures start constructing their mounds during the late spring and early summer and start looking for food, and if we are not careful, they may begin to live in our homes.

Fortunately, there are a lot of quick and efficient ways to prevent ants from invading your home, just follow these simple tips and you can enjoy a household free of ants.

Take Note of Scout Ants:- Scout ants are one of the first signs of ants making their way into your house. Their "scout" name is taken very seriously by these rogue ants, and their whole job is to locate food sources for the colony. It's a sure sign that you might have more ants coming if you find one of these ants scouring around in your kitchen or other living areas. If you come in contact with scout ants, it's a clear indication that you need to take action in this article with the remaining steps.

Keep clean surfaces in and around your home:- What's the one thing without which no creature can live? Of course, food! That doesn't mean you need to leave proof of your meals while you and your family need to feed, as this is what ants are always looking for! To avoid ants from entering your house, the biggest thing you can do is to make sure you keep it clean, and to ensure that food products are washed and kept in sealed containers.

  • Clean Up Dirty Dishes: After a big delicious meal, the last thing we want to do is get up and begin washing, but that's exactly what needs to be done! Leftover food and dirty dishes left around the house are an immediate attractor to ants, and if not cleaned up in a timely way, they may become an ant buffet.

  • Regularly Sweep & Vacuum: Having a swept floor will make a big difference as it removes crumbs of stray food that could go unnoticed. In areas where food is eaten, keeping your floors clean is key to prevent those scout ants from seeking a food source.

Store food in sealed containers:- As with most common household insects, in sealed, air-tight containers, it is necessary to store food (for both people and pets). Restricting access to food sources ensures that ants will not be able to gain access to any other bugs that might be searching for a food source at the same time and will steer them away.
