Welcome to /t/ADHD!

Hey everyone, welcome to /t/ADHD, I'm Kellan. I thought it'd be a good idea to start off with an introduction of me and talk about the goals of this sub. So, let's begin.

I was diagnosed with ADHD-C (combined type - hyperactivity + inattentiveness) informally in November 2014. I sort of knew I had it or something similar for a while, but only got diagnosed when I started doing horrible (seriously, horribly) in school. I always had issues turning in work in school, but it never really hurt me too bad compared to how bad it was when I was diagnosed. I began doing tons of research on all the different types of treatment, how ADHD works, what it affects, etc. and this March I finally received treatment. I was started on 25mg of Strattera (atomoxetine) per day, and worked my way up to 60mg before getting fed up with the side effects and switching to Adderall 5mg IR. It did a little bit the first day, but I continually needed more to get anywhere near something beneficial for me. I'm currently on 25mg XR and looking to switch to something else soon as it just feels too "speedy" to me. Enough talk about the meds, let's talk about me as a person.

I absolutely love coding and computers in general. It's always been the only thing I've been really good at. I wasn't really what many would call a "normal" kid. I hated sports no matter how much I tried them. This was partly due to my anxiety and depression that come along with ADHD, but also due to lack of interest. I've never been very active but physically I'm healthy.

I started this sub as a way to get more people help and support than what is currently available on reddit. Over there it seems like you can't always get your say in the conversation. You'll make a comment or post, and half the time you won't ever get a response. This is not the fault of the members and mods of the sub, but a core problem with reddit. Snapzu is different. Name aside, I've found it allows everyone to get their thoughts into a conversation and have people respond who actually care. It shouldn't be a rarity to e engaged in a conversation. That's the kind of community we want to have here. One where people genuinely care about what each other has to say.

We will most likely need some mods as well. They will be chosen based on participation, maturity, and helpfulness in this tribe. I (and maybe others) will PM you if we think you would be a good mod. Also, feel free to comment down below to show your interest. It won't guarantee you a position, but it could help your chances.

I really hope to see this community flourish. I look forward to introducing more members and watching conversation unfold.

Talk to you guys soon, -Kellan

HI! I'm making the transition, and this is one of the first tribes I looked for, since the subreddit is one of my core areas of involvement on Reddit. I really hope this takes off. Just wanted to say hi. :)

Awesome, another tribe member! The more the better, hopefully someday we get as big as /r/adhd.

      Hope to see you around.
