Nintendo Tweets About Mario Kart Trending Before Realizing It’s Because Of Trump’s Penis

Nintendo posted an exciting tweet when they noticed that Mario Kart was trending worldwide! However, they backpedaled after realizing it was because Stormy Daniels compared Donald Trump’s penis size to one of its characters! Nintendo is apologizing after the gaming brand applauded the fact that its game Mario Kart, along with the character, Toad were trending worldwide on September 18.

Why Mario Works: Super Mario as Transformative Icon for the Working Class

Nintendo’s Mario has transcended the realm of character and sits firmly in the realm of icon. Despite his appearance as a simple working man, nevertheless, just as Mario takes different forms throughout his adventure series, he is also a pliable figure of transformation throughout culture in general. Mario is a transformative and easily adaptable figure in the lineage of silent film stars, but Mario echoes them even further as a specifically...

Super Mario Party's use of two Switch screens is a technological marvel

Nintendo knows exactly what it does well. Innovative technology combined with charming gameplay has always been at the heart of the company's philosophy. It's been an extraordinarily successful combination - and one which was once again on display at this year's Gamescom, as I discovered when playing Super Mario Party's new two-tablet mode, Toad's Rec Room.

Diablo III Is Coming To Switch Later This Year

The day that was prophesied by a light switch is finally upon us: Diablo III is coming to Nintendo Switch this year. The news was meant to be announced tomorrow, but appeared today on Forbes in a post that’s since been deleted. Diablo III Eternal Collection on Switch will include the original game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, the Rise of the Necromancer pack, and all updates the game has received thus far. You’ll also be able to get an armor set that makes you look like Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda, because I guess Ganondorf would be mad about the devil muscling in on his “crown prince of evil” turf.

Gris Is A Gorgeous 2D Platformer Coming to PC and Nintendo Switch This December

Spanish developers Nomada Studio and publisher Devolver Digital will be launching Gris, to the Nintendo Switch and PC this December. The 2D platformer is set in a dream-like world filled with crumbling statues, towering temples and inky, shape-shifting birds. The titular heroine, a hopeful young girl, dashes and floats through the world with mesmerizing grace, her dress and blue hair blowing softly in the wind. Everything feels surreal and otherworldly, painted in watercolor shades of pink, blue, red and green. It's totally unique.

Nintendo Has Sold Over 300 Million Home Consoles

Earlier this week we reported on the impressive fact that Sony has sold over 500 million total PlayStation consoles since the original PlayStation debuted in 1994. That got me thinking about another titan in the industry with an even longer history. Nintendo has officially released sales data for all of its major hardware releases since the Famicom in 1983, so I did a little digging to see what kind of numbers they've piled up over the years and how they compare to Sony's.

As well as the expected PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, Doom Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch. Bethesda casually let slip the news of the Nintendo version of next year's upcoming shooter in a tweet on the official Doom account. The company's 2016 Doom reboot did land on the Switch eventually, but the port only came to Nintendo players the year after those other formats.

We Went Hands-On With Diablo III On The Switch For The First Time

It’s a familiar refrain to anyone vaguely connected to the video game industry: “That game would be perfect on the Switch!” It has been said from Switch owners for nearly every game past and present, from A Boy and His Blob to Zuma. At some point, someone must have also said the same of Diablo III, Blizzard’s third game in their action-RPG series, and it seems like Blizzard and Nintendo agree.

Switch officially outsells the Wii U in Japan

We knew it was coming a few weeks ago but it’s still a surprise – the Nintendo Switch has officially outsold the Wii U in Japan in just over nine months on the market, according to the latest figures from Famitsu (and pieced together by Nintendo Everything). That means the 3.32 million units threshold has been passed on the region. Another interesting tidbit is that the Switch sold 115,255 units in the week of December 25th while the Wii U just sold 69 units in the same period.

Remember the rumor of Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment teaming up for a Super Mario Bros. animated movie? Those details were never confirmed, but today Nintendo's president has at least given a little glimpse at what could happen in the future. In an interview with Kyoto Shimbun, Nintendo's president Tatsumi Kimishima says he hopes to come to an agreement with a partner for a Super Mario Bros. movie. If that agreement happens, then an official announcement of the project could come soon. On top of all that, if everything proceeds smoothly, Kimishima says that the movie could be ready by 2020.

One year in, the Switch might be my favorite Nintendo console ever

For a long time, I’ve felt like no piece of video game hardware could surpass the original Nintendo DS in my mind. It checked so many boxes for me. It was a device that had an absolutely incredible and eclectic library of games, from strange musical gems like Electroplankton and Elite Beat Agents, to some of the best iterations of iconic Nintendo series like Mario Kart, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing. Its dual screens and touch interface led to all new kinds of experiences, while at the same time its sleek design (starting with the DS Lite), made it the first piece of video game hardware I owned that didn’t feel like a cheap toy.

Warframe Developer Suggests Game Could Eventually Come to Nintendo Switch

Warframe is a free to play loot shooter that has managed to garner a hugely dedicated fan base, and earn itself a lot of respect, thanks to excellent and fair free to play game mechanics, and hugely compelling game design. The title is available to play on Xbox One, PS4, and PC—but so far, it has not appeared on a Nintendo system. That could change eventually—speaking to The Express UK, Sheldon Carter, COO of Digital Extremes, noted that the studio loves the Switch, and is examining possibilities—but for now, they have nothing to announce.

Dragon Quest XI for Switch delay due to outdated Unreal Engine 4

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age producer Hokuto Okamoto discussed more about the troubled Switch version of the RPG during an interview with GameSpot at PAX East 2018 in Boston. “It’s true that the Nintendo Switch version is under development at this moment in time,” Okamoto told GameSpot. “Specifically with regards to the development, this game was developed on the Unreal Engine, but the version for Unreal Engine needs to be updated, I suppose, in order to support Switch. In that sense, the development is still expected to take a very long time. It’s still a long ways out.”
