The Auto Industry's Play for the Female Driver
Women's purchasing power has risen in the past 30 years, but the recognition of women as equal drivers has not. At some European auto shows, it's still common to see models in skimpy clothing posed as automotive accents. Very few advertising campaigns show women behind the wheel, unless there happen to be a couple of kids in the backseat. No one wants to risk losing men for women, despite the fact that it might be the more savvy business choice.
