Wow, that's definitely an eye-opener. You would think that safe deposit boxes would be given the same protections and consumer safeguards as banking in general. Clearly, they're not. Besides causing financial catastrophes for the people mentioned in the article, I cannot imagine the amount of heartbreak it would cause in those situations (when the people in the article opened their safe deposit boxes to find their items gone).
