New York to invest $750 million to expand electric-vehicle infrastructure
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced an investment program that would allocate $750 million to build charging stations and other electric-vehicle infrastructure as part of the state's long-term goal to reduce emissions.

This is why I don't think they will catch on the way the eco people want them to. What New York is doing is a good idea, everywhere should be thinking about it, but the pricing is high. On top of that you have the wait times for a charge, I think it's something like 20 minutes for 80% and up to an hour for 100% if you have the fast charger and that's on the Nissan Leaf that goes maybe 70 miles per charge, it's probably more for a Tesla or other 400 mile battery.
