    While many carmakers, including electric vehicle pioneer Tesla Inc, have significantly increased the range of vehicles on a single charge, many consumers are still put off by the higher sticker price and a lack of charging infrastructure, according to various surveys.

    This is why I don't think they will catch on the way the eco people want them to. What New York is doing is a good idea, everywhere should be thinking about it, but the pricing is high. On top of that you have the wait times for a charge, I think it's something like 20 minutes for 80% and up to an hour for 100% if you have the fast charger and that's on the Nissan Leaf that goes maybe 70 miles per charge, it's probably more for a Tesla or other 400 mile battery.
