Cambodia's second-richest man donates 98% of fortune to poor residents of his hometown
With a minimum wage of less than US$5 per day, the workers of Cambodia are among the lowest paid in the world – and that’s if they’re lucky enough to find a job that actually pays the minimum wage. In the small town of Kaoh Nheaek, home to just under 10,000 people and not far from the border with Vietnam, the average annual salary is under US$1,000, well below the officially-sanctioned minimum and barely enough for one person to survive – let alone a family relying on a single income.
