Thousands of California soldiers forced to repay enlistment bonuses a decade after going to war
Short of troops to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan a decade ago, the California National Guard enticed thousands of soldiers with bonuses of $15,000 or more to reenlist and go to war.

Holy crap. Stuff like this makes me embarrassed to be a human. If somebody is overpaid, they know they were overpaid and should have given the money back immediately. I have no problem with going after them to repay the overage. HOWEVER, telling someone they qualify, giving them the money, then later telling them they didn't actually qualify and need to pay the money back with interest is beyond the Pale. Our government is a joke, a bad joke; hopefully the punchline is "...and they all went to jail".
