As to the eyes and body shapes, not just them,everybody who draws does this. I've drawn cartoons for fun for years and I do it as well. Also notice how the villains usually have sharp features,beady eyes,darker coloring,etc. The big eyes is also why some critters are seen as so cute we can hardly stand it,such as flying squirrels,rabbits and owls.
