    The US is seeking the new supercomputer, significantly faster than today's models, to perform complex simulations, aid scientific research and national security projects.

    I'm going to bet, with Obamas track record, its a lot more of the latter than the two formers. A lot of his NSA "discussion" seems to have been simply a distraction, he doesn't seem to want any change in that departments.
