I think cannabis legalization is a great stride in the direction of personal freedoms. It takes power away from the cartels/drug dealer rings, takes money out of the private-prison system and puts it back into our schools and public health systems (specifically outlined as the beneficiaries of tax revenue), and also takes it away from kids by putting it behind a lock and key that requires proof of ID to obtain (fake IDs are a separate issue altogether). Plus, this is a whole new industry that local businesses can grow around - sellers of the product, sellers of accessories, makers of accessories, attendants to work the shops, probably some smoking lounges and the attendants for that...there is just so much money that can be made here while making our kids a little bit safer from shady characters (and of course a drug that isn't good for youngsters).
