And as usual.they will fail cause if we don't give them root (and we won't) they can't do anything. Get your software from repositories and do what you always do and you will be fine.
Also remember a virus etc. that can screw over Windows can't touch Linux,or Apple,for that matter. I could explain why but by the time I'm done,your eyes will have glassed over.
Every few years a scary story comes out about the infection that will doom Linux.and of course,nothing happens. When I see scaremongereing like this,I roll my eyes,don't go to the website and move on.
Yeah, I haven't read any more, and I probably should. What you say it true, but malware with your user privileges can access all the things you own on the box, and encrypt them.
It will never get to do that though.
