Historically, “smart” TVs aren’t always particularly smart. They’ve routinely been shown to have lax security and privacy standards. Last year Vizio noted it made nearly as much in one quarter just from tracking and monetizing consumer viewing and usage data as from hardware.

I have a dumb tv that came with the house I moved into...When it dies,and if all I can find are "smart" tv's,I'll just go back to using my UbuntuMATE Installed computer for entertainment. I mostly do anyway as tv shows are so dismal and ads just proliferate like cockroaches.
