Canada Bans Locked Phones, Wireless Carrier Unlocking Fees
Canadian regulator the CRTC has announced that Canada will soon formally ban not only locked phones, but unlocking fees. According to an announcement by the agency, the rule change will take effect on December 1st, 2017, after which point wireless carriers may not even sell locked devices. The agency's move is an update to Canada's Wireless Code, which dictates consumer rights and the rules governing the nation's wireless carriers. I would love to see this come to the US but I know better, I can't stand the fact they want me to pay 200 or in Apple's case 1000 dollars for a phone, I can only use with one company properly because they have different antenna frequencies depending on carrier.
