UN, Council of Europe criticise Hungary’s new asylum rules
The Council of Europe and United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) criticised new asylum legislation passed by Hungary’s parliament on July 6. The new rules, which are in response to the growing number of migrants and asylum seekers arriving to the country, were approved by lawmakers from the governing Fidesz party, its Christian Democrat allies and the far-right Jobbik party.
