YouTube’s “Premium Lite” trial offers ad-free YouTube for €7 a month
YouTube Premium is $12 a month, and the service offers ad-free videos, background play on phones, and downloading videos (both for YouTube and Google's Spotify competitor, YouTube Music). What if you don't care about music and all that extra functionality, though? What if you just want to not see ads?

They have a work around they are gradually unfurling world wide which makes add blockers useless. I copy the url of what I want to watch,plop it down in the media window on a website,hit review,watch the video,which won't have the ad at the start,then delete the whole thing.
As soon as that's the case around here, I'll just blacklist YouTube altogether. There are more and more nice and decent alternatives for that behemoth anyways. :-)
Another trick to circumvent ads (and age restrictions) on YouTube is using youtube-dl. Does nice fileconversions also, for instance when you want to download a song (and convert it to ogg, mp3, flac, et cetera). Playlists (like a whole album)? No problem. :-)
