You took a bowl that is made of what is essentially a mirror and put it outside in the sun, this is basic science, I used to take magnifying glasses and metal bowls outside to melt my GI Joes, Ninja Turtles and any poor ant that happened to wander into my path just to set them on fire.
I feel bad for all the bugs that find their way in there.
